How I Can Help
Pelvic and abdominal discomfort may develop after surgery, childbirth, trauma, infection, digestive issues, stress, scar tissue formation, or as part of a wider pattern involving the spine, pelvis or joints.
The organs of the abdomen, pelvis and chest, and the tissues surrounding them, need to move and adapt in relation to one another, the diaphragm, the surrounding fascia, and the bony framework. Because the organs and body wall share nerve and fascial connections through the spine and pelvis, restrictions in either the visceral or musculoskeletal system can influence the other.
Scars from surgery, including C-section, abdominal, pelvic or chest surgery, can also create deeper restrictions or adhesions. Even when a scar has healed well on the surface, the layers beneath may not glide as freely as they should, which can influence movement, comfort, and tension through the surrounding tissues.
At InnerBalance Physiotherapy, I take a gentle and respectful approach to assessment and treatment. I consider the relationship between the organs, fascia, scars, pressure systems, diaphragm, pelvis, spine and surrounding soft tissues. Treatment may include gentle visceral, fascial, scar tissue and musculoskeletal techniques, alongside movement advice and exercises where helpful. The aim is to improve mobility through the tissues, support greater ease through the abdomen and pelvis, and help the body feel balanced and comfortable.
