Muscle & Joint Pain

How I Can Help

Muscle and joint pain can affect how freely and confidently you move. It may feel like stiffness, aching, weakness, tightness, reduced mobility, or a sense that something is not moving as it should.

Muscles and joints are closely linked. When muscles are weak, overactive, or working in a compensatory way, they can alter how a joint is loaded and how smoothly it moves. Equally, a stiff, irritated or poorly moving joint can affect the surrounding muscles and create tension, guarding or trigger points. These patterns may also be influenced by the nervous system, the connective tissues, and by muscles responding protectively to deeper tissues or structures within the body.

At InnerBalance Physiotherapy, I assess the wider picture rather than treating the painful area in isolation. This may include looking at joint mobility, muscle balance, specific muscle testing, soft tissue and fascial restrictions, nerve sensitivity, circulation, and how the body is loading through the area. Sometimes improving an underlying joint, nerve, fascial, or visceral restriction can change how the muscles are able to work.

Treatment may include soft tissue techniques, gentle joint work, fascial release, movement re-education, strengthening, advice, and exercises where helpful. The aim is to reduce unnecessary strain, restore better balance, and help the body move with greater ease.
